Steve Bruce Praises Newcastle Fans For Not Being Full Of Nonsense On Matchday
Getting praise from Steve Bruce is at best like a kiss on your birthday from an elderly aunt with more stubble than you; probably well intentioned but leaves you with the shudders afterwards.
The Hull manager believing that the Newcastle fans played a big part in helping their team get back in the match and rescue a point.
With Steve being such a big Newcastle fan, you would have thought that he might have understood the possibility of supporters expressing their deep discontent with the overall direction of the club, including the manager’s position within that, yet still turn up on matchday and get right behind the team.
Or maybe not…
Speaking to Sky Sports, Steve Bruce said;
“Every time that you go away from home and get a point you are delighted, but it feels like a loss. We have made mistakes which we’ve been punished for.
“We scored two wonderful goals which would have graced any arena but it feels as if we have been beaten now.
“I have got to say the Newcastle fans today were magnificent.
“There was none of the nonsense we have read about in the week.
“They got behind their team and we encouraged them by making mistakes, but to a man they were fantastic.
“The crowd played their part in Newcastle getting back into the game and they were terrific today.”
