Sir Bobby Robson Foundation Make Statement Regarding Sack Pardew Website
This week saw the launch of a website called Sack Pardew (.com).
Like it says on the tin, the purpose of the website is to generate pressure and stimulate support to try and get rid of the Newcastle United manager.
On the sackpardew.com website, it also asks fans if they’d like to donate money to help fund future campaigns to try and remove Alan Pardew.
The website message reading;
‘Donations will fund campaigns aimed at removing Alan Pardew from his post.
‘Anything extra will go to The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. For complete transparency we will always display a running total.’
However, the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation have moved to distance themselves from the website by releasing the following statement;
“The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation has not been contacted by the creator of this website and is not affiliated with it.
“While we always appreciate any offer to raise funds to support our work, we feel it would be inappropriate to endorse a campaign to remove a Newcastle United manager.”
While some will see this as a sleight on the new website, I think it is merely an approach that mainstream charities have to take and tread a fine line when it comes to how they are perceived.
Ironically though, this press release will simply promote the ‘Sack Pardew’ message even more and awareness of the campaign website.
