Shola Ameobi Off The Mark In Turkey

Shola Ameobi saw his first piece of competitive action in Turkey two weekends ago for Gaziantep away at Kayserispor.

The move to the Turkish second tier had seen Shola’s first start delayed due to the red card he picked up at the end of last season, when he was sent off against Liverpool.

Shola made his mark in that first match on Turkish soil with a booking, but this past weekend it was better news for the ex-Newcastle striker.

Gaziantep were at home to Adanaspor on Friday and Shola notched his first ever goal in the Turkish second tier, though maybe no surprise to hear that it was yet another penalty for the spot-kick king.

That thirty fifth minute strike gave Shola and his teammates but they conceded with eight minutes left on the clock.

With three draws in three matches, Gaziantep are eleventh in the league of eighteen clubs.
