Crystal Palace v Newcastle United
Wednesday 24 September 8pm

With many fans feeling fatalistic about this match and dismissive of Mike Ashley and Alan Pardew’s intentions in the Cups, it was hardly music to the ears when yesterday the club announced that Krul, Cisse and Gouffran were all sick and would miss the match.

Whether they would have played anyway is open to question.

Also unavailable are the likes of Santon, Aarons and De Jong who are all injured, while Facundo Ferreyra…who knows?!!

Despite no press conference before this match, all the indications earlier were that Sammy Ameobi is going to play and with precious few alternatives I can see him getting a game in in the front three, or wide in a five man midfield depending on how you look at it.

Despite stating he wanted to give Riviere a rest after yet another anonymous game against Hull, there looks little option but for the manager to play him again, such are the limited choices amongst our forwards.

Having said that, I do think there is a chance that Perez could play as well, having at least looked lively in brief sub appearances so far.

When we [intlink id=”47855″ type=”post”]polled the fans they came up with the following starting eleven[/intlink] as their choice (percentage of fans voting for each player next to the name) and I can see only six of these starting;

88% Haidara, 88% Janmaat, 81% Elliot, 75% Perez, 74% Steven Taylor, 67% Cabella, 64% Coloccini, 63% Sissoko, 62% Tiote, 61% Colback, 56% Armstrong

I think Tiote won’t be risked, Cabella will be put on the bench as a possible impact sub, with Jnamaat also rested and Taylor playing right-back in his place.

Armstrong could be a possibility although I expect Riviere to be kept in, while I can see Alan Pardew looking after Colback who has had a busy month and picked up injuries.

Elliot

Taylor

Coloccini

Williamson

Haidara

Sissoko

Anita

Abeid

Sammy Ameobi

Perez

Riviere
