Alan Pardew Talks With Ashley and Tells Players To Show ‘Better Spirit’ If Go Behind
At the Alan Pardew press conference today ahead of Saturday’s match with Hull, the manager has admitted that it hasn’t been an ‘easy week’.
With organised mass protests against Pardew it could well be a pivotal match for us all, though no one more so than the United boss.
Pardew also admitted he’d had a ‘long conversation’ with Mike Ashley and that they’d both agreed to focus on the Hull match to try and get a win. Which to me sounds more like, let’s see what happens on Saturday and we’ll then see what our next move is.
Maybe the most comic aspect of the quotes made public so far by the club, is one where Alan Pardew says he has spoken to the players and told them they have to show ‘a better spirit’ if they go behind.
A shame he wasn’t saying to them all when he arrived almost four years ago!
“It has not been an easy week.
“I have spoken to the group (players) about it and if we go behind in games we have to show a better spirit.
“I had a long conversation with Mike Ashley on Sunday and we both agreed to focus on this Saturday (Hull) and try to get a win.
“The environment for the players will probably be as tough on Saturday as it has ever been – Hull will try to take advantage of that.
“I do not fear the game but Hull are a good side, whave to show our spirit is strong and I think we’ll do that.”
