Pardew Stoke Press Conference – Expects Papiss Cisse Back In Training Today

After no press conference for Crystal Palace, Alan Pardew had the few remaining journalists who aren’t banned, up first thing on Saturday well before training for his pre-Stoke chat.

How I bet the United boss wishes he could trade in that League Cup win for a guaranteed three points on Monday night.

The club have released a few quotes from this morning’s press conference and the Newcastle manager says he is expecting Papiss Cisse will train today after getting over a bout of flu.

“Papiss has had flu but should train today. If he can capture his form from 2-3 years ago it would be a massive boost for us.

Pardew also predictably says he hopes that his players can build on the result at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night.

“Stoke is always a tough place to go. We got beaten there last year and are looking for a better showing on Monday.

“We had a great result in the week and are preparing for Stoke. We’re looking for our first league win and hopefully we get it on Monday.”

However, Stoke could no doubt prove a tougher nut than Crystal Palace’s reserves.
