Pardew Praises Newcastle Fans For Making ‘Conscious Effort’ To Cheer Team At Palace
Alan Pardew has claimed the victory over Palace as an ‘unbelievable performance’ and also made special mention of the fans.
The manager slightly bizarrely saying he believes that those supporters who traveled down to Selhurst Park has made a conscious decision to cheer the team.
Even the humiliation at Southampton still was played out to a backdrop of great support for the team (considering the embarrassing display and scoreline), as well as abuse for the manager.
“Our fans were brilliant tonight.
“I think they had consciously made an effort to come and cheer for their team.
“They couldn’t have done any better and I thank them for that because it is a long way to get here.
“It was an unbelievable performance from us really, because we had so many setbacks in the game.
“We conceded a penalty which was harsh, then we conceded in the last minute when we just switched off.
“That is just what can happen at this level and we had to go for most of extra-time with ten men, yet we still managed to win.
“It was a great performance from us.”
