Pardew Admits Papiss Cisse Only Played Due To Club Doctor Being Away On A Course
Alan Pardew has admitted that Papiss Cisse was only able to be included as the Newcastle United club doctor was away on a course this past week.
With only a few days training after long-term injury, the United boss also sad that Cisse hasn’t really kicked a football as he in such an early stage of his recovery.
Pardew also got a bit excited after seeing a United striker actually scoring goals, by saying that Cisse had shown Riviere how to do it, but using the words ‘pessimism in the box can get you rewards’!
Hopefully then we’ll see a lot more pessimism in the coming weeks….
Over to Alan Pardew;
“Fortunately the doctor was on a course this week so he didn’t get a say.
“He has worked hard Papiss but he’s had wastage on his muscle after the injury and it is not quite as strong as it perhaps should be.
“We worked really hard on that and he has just come back.
“His legs are fine but he hasn’t really kicked a football but we’ve seen enough to know he’ll sniff a goal out.
“Papiss came off the bench and showed an example, maybe to Emmanuel (Riviere), that pessimism in the box can get you rewards.
“I feel sorry for Manu, he is twenty four years old, come to this football club, trying to carry the number nine shirt on his own, and never had a chance to rest him. He’ll have learnt today.”
