Official Premier League Newcastle United Squad Named
Following the closure of the summer transfer window, the official Newcastle United squad had to be supplied to the Premier League.
A maximum of twenty five players, it could have no more that seventeen of those twenty five ineligible for ‘home grown’ status. In the event, United have named 9 players who are ‘home grown’ with sixteen others making up the twenty five.
To be called ‘home grown’, players had to be registered with an English (or Welsh) club for at least 3 whole seasons or 36 months before their 21st birthday, though this period didn’t have to be in one long continuous period.
No additions (apart from emergency loans and free agents) to this squad are allowed until the joys of the next transfer window which opens 1st January 2015.
As well as the 25 man squad, Newcastle can have as many Under 21 players as they like.
