New Favourite To Be Next Newcastle Manager

Almost as laughable as Alan Pardew’s refusal to face the press and his team’s performance yesterday, are the various journalists falling over themselves to put their ‘exclusive’ news in front of you as to who will be the next person to take over as Newcastle manager.

The only problem of course is that every journalist has their own exclusive, so we end up with a list as long as your arm.

If Newcastle United was a normal club with a normalish owner and structure, you could assume it would be a case of looking for the person with the best managerial credentials who you could attract.

For starters, I can’t see any chance of Mike Ashley paying compensation to another club, so that rules out the likes of Steve Bruce and anybody else currently in work.

I then can’t see any credible manager with a decent pedigree (Moyes and Pulis etc) who could pick up a job at a different club shortly, agreeing to come to Newcastle and have no say on signings in and out, as well as be expected to regularly defend the indefensible.

So that to me leaves us with the desperate, people who would be so grateful they would take the job under any constraints…a bit like Alan Pardew in 2010.

That to me leaves us with obvious choices such as Malky Mackay and Joe Kinnear, with maybe others such as Neil Lennon and Tim Sherwood as possibilities depending on just how desperate they are for another chance.

Of course it could be just as big a surprise as last time and they find a Pardew clone who recently left a third tier club, one thing you can always say about Mike Ashley, you can never be sure of his next move.

Those at the top of the market are listed here, plus a few other ‘interesting’ candidates we’ve picked out – for the full list go HERE.
