Who Is Left In The Trenches With Alan Pardew?
During Alan Pardew’s reign, even when the manager was coming under pressure from fans and/or undermined by Mike Ashley, he could still seemingly rely on players rallying alongside him.
Even players who have left the club and feel they have a grievance, such as Joey Barton and Kevin Nolan, still speak highly of their ex-manager.
I’m not saying that the current crop are necessarily going to turn against Pardew but with so many new boys I think they are likely to be idle bystanders when it comes to their manager, silently watching to see what comes to pass.
Yohan Cabaye was a key player in the dressing room for Pardew and his departure, as well as that of Shola Ameobi, leaves few strong characters who would speak out on his behalf.
If the likes of Gabriel Obertan, Rob Elliot and Steven Taylor do, it will hardly be a positive for Alan Pardew.
The Manager is looking increasingly isolated and when you are solely relying on Mike Ashley it could be a lonely vigil.
