Jonas Gutierrez – Once A Geordie Always A Geordie

Back in 2012, together with some of the Toon Army Malaysia lads, I had the opportunity to visit St James Park – to watch the penultimate game versus Man City where we lost 2-0.

The feeling was just unbelievable seeing your heroes in front of you.

After sponging up all the match excitement and stadium intensity, just like a teenage girl after a Bieber concert; we waited at the stadium car park exit lane hoping to catch more glimpses of the players.

Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Benz you name it .. All on parade as we saw players one by one leave the stadium. I must say all of them from Coloccini to Ben Arfa greeted the fans, at least with a wave.

Then came the player I adored the most, Jonas Gutierrez.

Seeing us, he stopped his car, wound down the window and signed all requested autographs. I humbly requested a photo and without any hesitation, he said ok and obliged with a smile which you can never get from a superstar of his stature.

He gave his all during his time in Toon. He stayed with us during our relegation year, he never complained whenplayed out of position and most of the time doing the dirty work for the team.

For me, part of our team’s decline is due to him not being in the team .

I plead with the Newcastle board, spare some feelings for Jonas.

Do what you should do, just like how Barca treated Abidal, or how Villa cared for Petrov.

Please don’t go any lower in our expectations anymore.

For my hero Jonas 18, be strong . You never gave up on the field, I’m sure this f***ing cancer is nothing to you.

We shall see you on the field again, hopefully in black and white stripes again.

The whole Toon Army not only on Tyneside, but the whole world, pray for you.

Like you once said, once a Geordie always a Geordie .
