Jack Colback Has Eyes On London

Jack Colback believes that the most important thing is for the players to get a winning mentality and that the League Cup can help kick that off.

The only victory so far of course was in the League Cup at lowly Gillingham via an own goal.

Let’s hope that the likes of Alan Pardew and those above him are listening because it is something that anybody who plays sport acknowledges, the more you win the more you win.

The confidence and belief that are instilled by getting used to winning, are immeasurable in helping the team performance overall.

The embarrassing and fatally flawed statistics the club produced last season to support their stance of not trying in the Cups, need to be consigned to history.

Sunderland (shame they went out last night…) and others have proved getting to Wembley finals and in many case winning there, is not beyond any club who put a decent effort in.

This is what Jack Colback had to say to the Shields Gazette;

“We have got to get that winning mentality going.

“It was a great experience for me personally playing at Wembley (with the mackems v Man City) and going there for the first time.

“It is good for team morale as well when you’re winning games, it doesn’t matter what competition it’s in.

“It is good for the club and what the fans want.”
