Graham Carr In Auxerre On Monday Watching Two Stars Of French Under 21s

Graham Carr was in Auxerre on Monday night to watch two of the stars of the France Under 21 team.

The Newcastle Chief Scout is reported by French media to have been there watching striker Paul-Georges Ntep and midfielder Morgan Sanson.

It is claimed Newcastle were interested in bringing Ntep to Tyneside in January but were put off by the 3m Euros price tag, the forward moving from Auxerre to Rennes instead.

The striker who turned 22 in July, made an instant impact last season for his new club, scoring five goals in Ligue 1 despite only starting seven matches. He has followed that up with another two goals already this season in only two Ligue 1 starts.

Newcastle though are reported to be still watching the Cameroon born striker, as well as his Under 21 teammate Sanson turned twenty in August.

The midfielder joined Montpellier from Le Mans for £500,000 as an eighteen year old last summer and despite his youth, he was first choice in midfield alongside Remy Cabella throughout the season.

No doubt the new Newcastle midfielder will have told United all about him.

Graham Carr watched Ntep score the winner last night as France defeated Iceland 4-3, while Sanson got on the scoresheet last Thursday when the French Under 21s beat Kazakhstan 5-1.
