Ferreyra Showing Nothing In Training And He Was Colo Not Pardew’s Choice – Reports
Newcastle United belatedly posed for their official squad photograph on Tuesday and we at least discovered that Facundo Ferreyra is still at the club, if not on the pitch.
Now it has been claimed that despite signing on loan for Newcastle 46 days ago, the striker is neither fit enough to play, or showing anything near good enough in training.
The Chronicle are reporting their source inside the club telling them that the player was even left out of Monday’s reserve match against Wolves to try and give him a kick up the backside to wake him up and raise his game.
They also claim that Alan Pardew had nothing to do with his signing and rather it was the board acting on a recommendation from Fabricio Coloccini on his fellow countryman.
All very strange considering Ferreyra actually played and scored against Bolton reserves over a month ago (18 August), then eight days later he was an unused sub against Gillingham but hasn’t been seen since.
The Chronicle talk of Ferreyra’s training performances leading to ‘raised eyebrows’ amongst the other players.
All very worrying considering just how toothless Newcastle have looked so far, with no prospect of any outside help until January at the very earliest.
The fact Newcastle United over the summer failed to address the desperate lack of a quality striker, makes the situation look ever more ridiculous by the day/match.
