Fans’ Choice Of Newcastle Team To Face Crystal Palace

The fans choice of which Newcastle team should face Crystal Palace is interesting to say the least.

In the past when we have asked supporters to pick a starting eleven, nearly every time there have been at least 6 or 7, often more, player with at least 90% of the votes.

While the likes of Cisse, Gouffran and Krul are missing through injury and De Jong & Santon injured, the vast spread of votes suggests that supporters don’t see obvious choices to produce a winning team tonight.

One thing that doesn’t change is that as on nearly every occasion previously, Haidara is massively preferred to Dummett, despite the Welsh international having a decent game against Hull.

Janmaat has made a steady start so no surprise to see him favoured, plus we don’t have any other right-backs…while with only the inexperienced Alnwick as competition, it was predictable fans would see Elliot as the obvious choice.

After that though it all goes a bit crazy.

The totally inexperienced Perez is easily preferred to the disappointing Riviere, with youngster Adam Armstrong also worth a chance ahead of the Frenchman.

The much maligned Steven Taylor is way ahead, which is clearly all to do with the poor form of Coloccini and Williamson.

Despite Cabella being the only real flair available, only two out of every three fans would pick him.

Similarly with Sissoko and Colback, whilst at least with Tiote the fans must surely be thinking that after coming back and running himself into the ground against Hull, it is pretty certain he won’t be expected to start this match.

The overall picture is one of fans wondering just who is good enough to start putting wins on the board.

The first eleven in bold are those with the highest percentage of fans selecting them, with the other players following.
