Cheick Tiote Plays Second Ivory Coast Game In Four Days

Cheick Tiote has completed his second full ninety minutes within four days, though he may wish he hadn’t bothered.

On Saturday, Tiote and his Ivory Coast teammates struggled to a 2-1 win over Sierra Leone but on Wednesday they have been crushed by Cameroon 4-1.

Cheick Tiote once again played the full match, making it over three hours of action with this four day period.

This despite Alan Pardew only playing Tiote for one hour in pre-season when Newcastle visited Sheffield Wednesday.

The midfielder was an unused substitute against Malaga in the Schalke tournament and failed to meet up with his teammates in New Zealand despite being named in the squad, with no comment/explanation from the club.

Before this international break, Alan Pardew said that he was going to try and get the Ivory Coast to allow Tiote to stay at Newcastle as he wasn’t fit enough to play for his country.

All very strange, especially as Cheick has completed two games in four days without any problems, well apart from the four goals that ended up in the Ivory Coast net earlier today…
