Alan Pardew ‘Southampton Kind Of Stained Us’
Five Premier League matches without a win but Alan Pardew is sticking to the line that bad luck rather than bad form has been to blame.
The Newcastle manager believing that the shocker at Southampton has ‘stained’ himself and the players.
The implication from the manager being that fans and the press are looking more negatively at United’s other results, simply due to the hammering at Southampton.
“We are still looking for our first win, I think we have been slightly unfortunate but I would say that as manager.
“We have had one awful game at Southampton that kind of stained us, so the response (Hull and Palace) was very pleasing.
“The points total doesn’t give a true reflection of how we have played.”
The United boss’ contention about the points total not giving a true reflection is perhaps something that people will let go with just the five games played.
However, with each passing match a defence of bad luck and deserving more points won’t be much consolation to the fans.
The next two matches at Stoke and Swansea saw Newcastle gain zero points last season, if that is repeated then three points from seven matches won’t look unlucky to many supporters.
As ever though in the Premier League a couple of wins on the bounce can work wonders, have Newcastle got it in them though?
