Alan Pardew Replies To Mike Ashley Sack Pardew Quotes

6 years ago

Alan Pardew has reacted to the [intlink id=”48016″ type=”post”]Mike Ashley sack quotes[/intlink] that were revealed by the Independent’s journalist Vivek Chaudhary.

The Newcastle manager has chosen to predictably downplay the whole thing, talking of them being taken out of context.

Pardew though did say that he had spoken to Mike Ashley this week, and all that they were both focused on, was winning matches.

The Shields Gazette reporting Pardew’s quotes;

“Sometimes things are taken out of context and if it was a sit down interview, done in a serious manner, I would be a lot more concerned – that is for sure.

“I have not seen him but I have spoken to him this week.

“He is obviously very keen for us to get victories, that is what he is about. That is what we are about, winning.

“I have been made aware of his comments in the paper, I’ve been under pressure at this club for a number of weeks now.

“All I can focus on now is the team and that is what I will do.”

Whatever Ashley’s motives behind putting those sack Pardew quotes out, it is interesting to see that the club owner is seemingly taking far more interest in Newcastle United.

Ashley has been to all three home games so far and was also pictured at Southampton, while Pardew has also mentioned a number of times already this season that he has had contact from the owner.

This is all very different to last season, when Ashley gave St.James’ Park a wide berth for all but a few matches and the impression Alan Pardew gave was that there was little contact between the pair.

We are all left guessing as to the reasons behind Ashley paying closer attention but my gut instinct is that he is preparing the club for sale at some point in the near to mid-future and wants to keep a close eye to see it keep its value.
