Alan Pardew ‘I Have To Have A Bigger Vision Than Some Fans’

Alan Pardew has claimed that he has to ‘Have a bigger vision’ than the local media and some Newcastle fans.

The United boss was talking about the pressures and problems of managing a club like Newcastle, with the resultant expectations…as he sees it.

Pardew talks of people questioning why Newcastle haven’t won a trophy and he puts that into perspective by saying it is not just under him United haven’t won anything, that blot going right back to 1969.

However, as we all know, pretty much none of us walk around the street s bemoaning why we haven’t won a trophy.

What most of us can’t accept is that the club has a stated policy of the Cups not been a priority and Pardew backing that up by putting out weakened teams every time, leading to the team going out every single season at the first or second attempt in both domestic cups under Alan Pardew and Mike Ashley.

The Manager is of course trying to deflect criticism and take focus away from the mess the club is in, his comments about fan expectations of trophies is in the hope that the generally clueless and compliant media will then make a story and headline surrounding unrealistic supporter expectation and so on.

Anyway, this is what Alan Pardew had to say;

“Sometimes,  when you are at a club for a long time – and I’m the second longest serving manager in the Premier League now – it becomes a little more difficult, especially at a club of this size.

“People ask, ‘Why haven’t you won a trophy?’, but we haven’t won a trophy at this club since 1969. It’s very, very difficult.

“I have to try to look at the bigger picture – a bigger picture than the local media and some of our fans – but I also understand there’s an immediate world we live in.

“Immediate results are important and I can’t take my eye off that either, but by the same token, I do have to have a bigger vision. I think we’ve got better, and we’re a stronger club than when I arrived, a lot stronger. I don’t know how else you can gauge it.”

As for Newcastle United being a stronger club that when he arrived…
