No Wonder Chucky Ferreyra Preferred Not Playing At Newcastle To Going Back to Shakhtar
Anybody who questions why Facundo Chucky Ferreyra might have fancied not playing at Newcastle United to playing at Shakhtar Donetsk, just have a look at these photos.
The Ukraine club’s Donbass stadium hosted five matches during Euro 2012 but only two years later it has been damaged by artillery shelling as pro-Russian fighters clash with the Ukrainian army for control of the City.
Shakhtar have moved all games 700km from Donetsk to Kiev but that didn’t stop six players including Chucky Ferreyra refusing to return for the new season.
Shakhtar released the following statement this weekend;
‘At 6.00 on 23 August, two powerful explosions occurred at Donbass Arena.
‘As a result of shelling, there is numerous damage to the northwestern facade of the stadium, communications, equipment and detached building of the energy centre, which is located in the northern part of the Donbass Arena park.
‘There are no casualties among the stadium staff.’
