Will Newcastle Try In The Cups This Season? – Fan Poll Result

Yesterday we asked fans the question – ‘Will Newcastle United try in the cups this season?’

Mike Ashley has at last allowed money to be spent on new signings and opinions are split amongst fans as to whether this is real ambition, or simply attempting to ensure Premier League survival.

Only months ago a club statement in Managing Director Lee Charnley’s name, stated that transfer policy was to buy one or two players a season as the squad was now strong enough…

At that same time, it was repeated that the cups weren’t a priority for the club.

So after nine signings (so far) this summer and not one or two…, did the fans collectively believe anything else has changed?

Thanks to the thousand of you who responded and the votes produced an almost exact 60/40 split.

A majority – 60%, think that nothing has changed and that Mike Ashley won’t allow the manager or players to compete for the Cups, while 40% think that there will be an attempt made this year for the club to do its best in the FA and League Cup.

Let’s hope the minority are proved correct….
