Steven Taylor Wants To Put City Nightmare Behind Him

Steven Taylor wants to put last season’s nightmare against Manchester City well behind him.

The central defender was sent off on the opening day as City took Newcastle apart, winning 4-0.

In fact that was only the start of Taylor’s nightmare as he didn’t get another league start until January, ironically at home against Manchester City and a 2-0 defeat that time.

In total he only started nine Premier League matches, but with no desperately needed central defenders coming in this summer, it looks a toss of the coin whether Taylor or Williamson plays alongside Coloccini on Sunday.

Steven Taylor had this to say to the Shields Gazette about the team preparations;

“What happened at Manchester City was very disappointing.

“This year everybody wants to get in the side for the City game  – we will have to wait and see.

“Everything we are doing is gearing up to the Man City game and the boys are putting the graft in on the training pitch.

“The boys haven’t moaned about the travelling, we have got on with it.”
