Steven Taylor Hits The Beach
Steven Taylor claims he has never felt better and puts it down to the amount of time he has spent on the beach…
However, this isn’t the usual case of the atypical football player’s lifestyle, more to do with the work Taylor says he has put in running on the soft sand.
I don’t think there has ever been much doubt of Steven Taylor’s effort and passion for Newcastle United, the worry for most fans has always been how much does (or doesn’t) go on inside the centre-back’s head.
Speaking to the Northern Echo, Steven Taylor said;
“I have been getting my head down on Tynemouth beach, doing some running. It’s great there as I can put the headphones on and run up and down the soft sand – it works.
“I did it for 2 or 3 weeks before the start of the pre-season training, taking advantage of soft sand and hundreds of steps to get down on the beach.
“It is difficult but something I really wanted to do after coming back from my Achilles injury and it seems to have done the trick.
“I want to get back to where I was strength and fitness-wise before that Achilles tendon injury – I’ve got the feeling I’m back to those sorts of levels.
“I want to hit the ground running and feel great great every time I go out on the pitch, so a little bit extra training won’t do me any harm.
“My legs have never felt better, in terms of condition I’ve never felt as good pre-season.”
