Pardew Says Remy Cabella Struggling To Be Fit For Start Of Season
Alan Pardew has cast doubt on the chances of Remy Cabella being ready for the start of the Premier League season, stating, “He’s not fit unfortunately.”
Having been part of France’s World Cup squad as a late addition after injuries to key players, Cabella didn’t get any pitch time but has been given extra time to recharge his batteries alongside all of the other World Cup participants.
The Newcastle manager is excited by the midfielder’s quality but says that the player accepts that he has to put in a lot of hard work before he is physically ready to get involved in the Premier League.
Speaking after Cabella supplied a classy finish against Schalke for his first goal in Newcastle colours, Pardew has paid tribute to his character and described the new signing as, “A Smiley Boy.”
Speaking to NUFC TV after the 3-1 defeat of Schalke, Alan Pardew said;
“He has come in, he’s a smiley boy, he really is fun around the training ground and he plays like that, I think our fans will love him.
“He’s not fit unfortunately, we’ve got to do a bit of work with him physically, he knows that but he’s going to attack it.
“Fantastic quality though and the sort of player I love and I hope he continues on that goal.”
