Pardew Reassures Newcastle Fans He Has A Plan If Players Leave Late In Window
Alan Pardew has claimed that he and the club have contingency plans if any of Newcastle’s players leave late in the transfer window.
The Newcastle manager was responding to the speculation surrounding Cheick Tiote’s future but Pardew broadened it out to any of his most valuable assets.
The manager going on to claim that his experience of four years at the club is a big benefit, though he didn’t elaborate as to exactly how that helped when Newcastle sold Yohan Cabaye and didn’t buy anybody in January, leading to a predictable collapse.
Sadly, many fans will believe that Pardew and Mike Ashley’s ‘plan’ if they sell Cheick Tiote, or any other decent player, before the window closes, will consist of hiding under the nearest table before emerging and claiming that they tried their best blah blah blah…
Alan Pardew responding to being asked about dealing with Tiote leaving late in window;
“Yes, I have got the Andy Carroll experience here.
“That is one of the benefits of being here for four years – though I never think that you can be safe with a player if you are not in the Champions League.
“I am as confident as I can be with any player that he will stay.
“I have seen some inflated prices this week, that is worrying with nine days left to go.
“We have all had speculation about our players and we have had it in the past.
“Some of it carries weight, a lot of rumours with Cabaye and PSG last season and it happened, so I am always open minded about it.”
