Pardew – Moussa Sissoko Can Lead Us In Different Way To Cabaye

Alan Pardew has claimed that Moussa Sissoko can lead Newcastle United by using his attributes that are so suited to the Premier League.

The Newcastle manager has claimed that the midfielder’s spirit and drive can lead Newcastle on the pitch, in a different way to Yohan Cabaye who ‘pulled the strings and dictated the pace’.

This is what Alan Pardew had to say;

“Cabaye was our leader on the pitch, in the way that he pulled the strings and dictated the pace.

“Moussa (Sissoko) though is a different type of player but he can lead us with his spirit and his drive.

“Those are his strengths and he has such tremendous power, which in the Premier League is so important.

“He is a huge character as well as being a very important player, we will see more of that character this year.”

I think that to me, Cabaye and Sissoko are two completely different types of players and I don’t see Moussa as a leader like Cabaye.

You need a combination of flair/creativity/invention to go with the workers. Sissoko is more like a Jonas Gutierrez, though hopefully with a bit more productivity in terms of creating and scoring goals added to that.

I think Moussa Sissoko needs to be given a specific job to do and I worry whether Alan Pardew is capable of getting the best out of him, much of last season we saw the midfielder covering a lot of ground but seemingly with little aim or direction.
