Pardew Admits Huge TV Deal Means Newcastle Should Never ‘Be Dislodged’

Alan Pardew has admitted that the huge TV deal in place for Premier League clubs should make it all but impossible for an established club such as Newcastle to ‘be dislodged’.

The Newcastle manager claims that Saturday’s opponents Crystal Palace need a couple of more years to get there.

However, Pardew references Hull as a club that have shown the paths for others to follow.

Hull of course have massive net spending on players far in excess of Newcastle in the last few years.

Many Newcastle fans will wonder why Mike Ashley is only spending money on players from cash brought in on sales, rather than using this huge TV deal, as Alan Pardew states, to grow Newcastle United?

“I think Palace are looking to grow as a Premier League club and one year in is not growing, you need to get that second and third year.

“As Hull have done this year – you look at their squad and they have gone again, they look an established Premier League side.

“With the current TV deal I think it is going to be difficult for them Premiership teams to be dislodged.

“So all of us who are in the Premiership at the moment have a huge advantage and we are trying to capitalise on that.”
