Newcastle Start Farming Young Players Out On Loan

7 years ago

After a disastrous half season on loan at St.Mirren, Adam Campbell is having another try at Fleetwood Town, with no doubt a number of other United young players poised to follow down the loan route.

The diminutive striker only started seven league games for the Scottish Premier League side in half a season, scoring two goals.

Campbell now begins an initial 28 day loan at Fleetwood in League One, which is arguably a higher standard than Scotland’s top division and will be a good test of his progress.

Newcastle United released the following statement;

Newcastle United striker Adam Campbell has joined Sky Bet League One side Fleetwood Town on a month-long loan deal.

The 19-year old, who was born in North Shields, joins the Cod Army having spent pre-season with The Magpies’ first team, making four substitute appearances against Sydney FC, Wellington Phoenix, Sheffield Wednesday and Schalke 04.

Campbell arrives at Highbury Stadium ahead of Saturday’s League One opener against Crewe Alexandra as Fleetwood embark on a campaign in the third tier of English football for the first time in their history.
