Newcastle Name Price On Cheick Tiote
The speculation surrounding Cheick Tiote’s future appears to be gathering steam.
Claims of approaches in recent days by Lokomotiv Moscow for the Newcastle United have been denied by the club, though the Press Association reported that their information was that the Russian club had made an offer a few weeks ago.
Now media reports this morning, including in The Mail are stating that Newcastle would be willing to accept £14m for Cheick Tiote.
Currently out with an injury, Tiote has had a strange pre-season, only featuring for an hour at Hillsborough against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Ivory Coast international was due to meet the rest of the squad in New Zealand but never showed, with no explanation forthcoming from the club.
Cheick also traveled to Germany for the Schalke Cup but stayed on the bench against Malaga, despite wholesale substitutions, then he wasn’t even named amongst the substitutes for the next day’s game with hosts Schalke.
A free transfer for Jack Colback and £14m for Tiote would surely be Mike Ashley’s perfect daydream.
Exactly what that change in quality of players available to Alan Pardew would do to the strength of the team, is of course a completely different matter.
