Newcastle Claim They Have ‘Tread on Arsenal’s Toes’ In Transfer Market
Alan Pardew has claimed that Newcastle have ‘Tread on Arsenal’s toes’ in the transfer market.
The Newcastle manager was responding to the comments by Mathieu Debuchy that everything was a higher level at Arsenal.
As well as claiming that the former Newcastle full-back my have been a bit misquoted, Pardew insisted that while there were some players Newcastle couldn’t go for, he claimed that at the next level down Newcastle had tasted success at the expense of Arsene Wenger’s Gunners.
“Arsenal are obviously a fantastic club but so are we.
“Some of the players who have gone to those (top four) clubs, we can’t get involved in.
“On the other side of the coin, we do work on that level just below, which is still Arsenal’s market and we have tread on their toes a little bit – which I’m sure they’ll flag up too.
“We think we have done well in the French market and it is a market that we think has a lot of quality in it.”
