Jack Colback ‘You Get Nothing For A Pat On The Back’
New signing Jack Colback takes a realistic view of his debut day, stating that despite a promising team display ‘you get nothing for a pat on the back’.
Colback believes that Newcastle did manage to up their game against City but they need to do it every week to compete in the Premier League.
As a Newcastle fan, his debut at St.James’ Park was a massive personal moment for the midfielder after his ‘interesting’ move for free from Sunderland;
“You get nothing for a pat on the back in this league.
“There’s no point upping the game against the better teams, then not performing against the so called lesser sides – otherwise we’ll lose games.
“We have to make sure we are winning games and if we apply ourselves like we did (against Man City), I am sure we can get some good results.
“We have got to do that every week, regardless who we are playing.
“It (debut) feels bittersweet though it was a great occasion for me personally to play (first time at SJP).
“The atmosphere was brilliant but we came away without any points.
“It was a controversial move but I just wanted to come here and play my football, to do well for the team.”
