Injury Update On Jack Colback and Siem De Jong
A crucial match on Saturday before United go into a two week international break and Alan Pardew has updated Newcastle fans as to Siem De Jong and Jack Colback’s injury fitness for this Palace match.
Colback missed the League Cup win at Gillingham through injury but when asked about the ex-Sunderland man’s availability for Saturday, the Newcastle manager simply confirmed ‘He’s fine’.
Pardew then elaborated with the news that Roy Hodgson had been in touch earlier in the week before picking his England squad and the Newcastle manager had reassured the England boss that Colback would be fine.
As for Siem De Jong, Alan Pardew’s update is less clear, and while he expects the Dutchman to play some part against Palace, he admits that De Jong still isn’t 100% and may not start.
“He has got that imagination and he has got that quality in that final third to make a big difference for us.
“I don’t think he is 100% by any stretch of the imagination and whether he plays or not, or starts, on Saturday we will have to wait and see – but he’ll play a part for sure.”
The question then of course if Siem De Jong doesn’t play and give us that ‘imagination’, who apart from Remy Cabella is capable of providing it?
