Hatem Ben Arfa Cancels Appointment With Newcastle Fans

Hatem Ben Arfa has cancelled a planned meet and greet with Newcastle fans.

The midfielder who has been the target of a concerted campaign by Mike Ashley and Alan Pardew to get him out of the club, was due to meet fans in a Newcastle city centre bookstore later today (Tuesday).

However, Ben Arfa has cancelled due to the ‘media circus’ surrounding the planned face to face with Newcastle supporters.

The media circus had included reports that Alan Pardew wasn’t impressed by this scheduled interaction with fans, an event that hadn’t gone through official channels.

Today does still see [intlink id=”45982″ type=”post”]an open training session and surrounding activities for fans at St.James\’ Park[/intlink], with gates opening at 9am and the actual first team training session starting at 10.30am (players introduced to the crowd at 10.15am).

As further confirmation of Hatem Ben Arfa’s exclusion from any connection with the first team, it is reported that while fans will be able to see the likes of Sammy Ameobi and Gabriel Obertan go through their paces at St.James’ Park today, Hatem will be nowhere to be seen.

What a mess.
