Fixture Changes For Newcastle – Good News Bad News

Two Newcastle United fixture changes were in the offing and thankfully we got away with one of them.

Both Hull and Tottenham were in Europa League action on Thursday night and the results of those matches would determine if Newcastle fans would be affected.

Mrs Doubtfire’s Hull won 2-1 in the second leg but went out on away goals to Belgian side Lokeren, a side United beat many moons ago in the Intertoto (those were the days…!).

That means the NUFC home match against our mackem friend Steve Bruce’s Hull will go ahead on the original date of Saturday 20th September.

However, Spurs’ 3-0 win over Cypriot club Limassol completed an easy 5-1 aggregate win which will ensure that the North London club will ask for their home match against Newcastle to be moved from Saturday 25th October as they will be in European action on the preceding Thursday, the match almost certain to be moved back 24 hours to the Sunday.
