Aulas Wants Hatem Ben Arfa If He Takes Pay Cut
Jean-Michel Aulas, President of Lyon, has said the French club are interested in taking Hatem Ben Arfa back to France – if he takes a pay cut.
In his final season at Lyon, Ben Arfa scored 6 goals as he helped the French club win the Ligue 1 title, plus starred in the Champions League, before moving in that summer of 2008 to Marseille in a £10m move.
”If he (Hatem Ben Arfa) is willing to make the financial sacrifice that would allow him to return, then we would have him.
”Technically he is one of the, if not ’The’, best player that I have had in twenty seven years as President.
”Hatem may have been difficult in terms of managing him but he is a boy with a very good record.”
With Newcastle struggling to attract seemingly any serious bids that would see a club match Ben Arfa’s wages AND put money into the United coffers, a loan move would seem the most likely option if Pardew and Ashley are determined to get him out of the club.
From the Lyon perspective, bringing back a past hero without a fee and on cut price wages, may seem like a chance just too good to turn down, if Ben Arfa decides he wants to play ball.
