Alan Pardew ‘Two Thirds Of The Pitch We Were Great’
Alan Pardew has claimed that Newcastle were great in two thirds of the pitch but ‘stuttering’ in the final third.
Sadly, it is that final third that is the difference between winning and losing/drawing matches.
Villa might have sneaked a single goal victory at Stoke in their first match but there is little doubt that they are a poor team, especially missing their one quality player of the front six, Benteke.
Last season they were amongst the relegation favourites until pulling out of trouble in the last couple of weeks, that though doesn’t hide the fact that conceded more goals and had the worst goal difference of any club outside the three who were relegated.
Alan Pardew talking to NUFC tv;
“We had good control of the game.
“We have encouraged the players to be a bit braver with the passing, which we thought was really good, two thirds of the pitch we were great.
“Last third…just stuttering a little bit.
“Maybe the new offensive players are just a little over eager to do well. We just need to get that final touch now.
“Every point in this league is gold dust.”
