Alan Pardew ‘Papiss Cisse Will Be Like A New Signing’

He’s said it he’s said it, a lot of people will be shouting ‘house’ in the Alan Pardew bingo quotes game, after the Newcastle manager delivered the much anticipated line – ‘Papiss Cisse will be like a new signing’.

The Newcastle manager was asked if he needed another striker for the club to move forward and he responded by stating that he believes that United already have three strikers who can score goals in the Premier League.

I’d guess he is referring to Emmanuel Riviere certainly as one of the three, with presumably either on-loan Facundo Ferreyra or possible even Siem De Jong, though he didn’t clarify.

However, Pardew did state that Papiss Cisse was one of those three who can score Premier League goals this season and chose once again to belittle the players who were available last year, claiming that there is much more creativity available now, which will help make Papiss like that new signing we have all been waiting for.

The rubbish Pardew speaks at times is summed up by him claiming that Cisse will be back for Southampton in two weeks time, but then clarified it by saying the striker would certainly be back training by then. A bit of a difference between available to train and to play, especially when it is a player who has been out with a serious injury for five months.

The desperate attempts by Pardew to put such a positive spin on Cisse and to how soon he may be available, hardly inspires confidence that Newcastle are in any way serious about bringing in a credible proven striker before 11pm on Monday.

Question to Alan Pardew at Thursday’s pre-match press conference;

‘Do you need another striker to move forward?’

Alan Pardew’s reply;

“I think that with the group that we have, we have good players and I think as I said before, Papiss Cisse will be back, I think for the Southampton game, certainly training by then.

“I think he will be like a new signing for us, with these players around him.

“So we are still carrying three strikers who I think are good enough to score goals in the Premiership. So therefore in the group I’m quite comfortable.

“The limitations Papiss Cisse had last year were because of the creative powers we had in the team.

“I think we have a fairer group, a team that will play to the strengths of others and I think that is important.”
