Alan Pardew ‘We Absolutely Dominated’
Alan Pardew came out on the attack after the final whistle, bizarrely claiming that Newcastle United ‘Absolutely dominated’, especially in the second half.
While United might have shaded possession, neither goalkeeper hardly had to make a save, so any talk of domination is a ‘little’ wide of the mark.
In fact it took until three minutes before the ninety minutes were up for the Villa keeper to have to make a save of any note, Siem De Jong getting in a decent striker but it was straight at Guzan.
This is what Alan Pardew had to say to BT Sport;
“Yeah I think so (Newcastle deserving a win), we had really good control of the game, particularly in the second half.
“We absolutely dominated – but couldn’t find the moment.
“When you get a lot of new offensive players they are so keen to do well.
“You could almost see Remy Cabella trying too hard to force that moment, you can’t really do that in football as you have to let the moment come to you.
“I am pleased with the team and I think there is a good solid base.
“We do know we need to threaten with goals and then that will win us games, there were a lot of good signs again but we still haven’t scored yet and that will be hanging over us.
“We have got out finger on the (in transfer market) as we have shown all summer.
“Whether we can get another body in, or even two, I don’t know.
“I think there will be some movement and maybe one or two going as well – we will see…”
