Abel Hernandez ‘I Dream Of Newcastle, Real Or Atletico’
Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez has once again been linked with a move to Newcastle United.
The Italian press are reporting renewed interest from United, with Southampton and Sunderland also said to be looking at the forward.
Back in February, the Gazza Dello Sport reported that the now 24 year old Hernandez was thinking of moving last summer, but decided to stay after Palermo’s relegation to Serie B, because he owed it to the fans and the club’s owner.
“I dream of Newcastle, Real or Atletico in the future.
“I decided to say (in the summer) because I owed it to Maurizio Zamparini (Palermo’s owner) and the supporters.”
Hernandez joined from Uruguayan club Penarol as an eighteen year old for £3m and is highly rated but has suffered from a number of injuries.
Despite that he has scored a very respectable 17 goals in 42 Serie A starts for Palermo, plus another 14 last season in 23 starting line-ups in Serie B since their relegation.
For the national team he has scored a decent 7 goals, though 4 of them were in an 8-0 thrashing of the might Tahiti! Hernandez made a couple of substitute appearances at the World Cup in Brazil, getting pitch time against both Costa Rica and Columbia.
Whether the player is still thinking of Newcastle and/or those two clubs from Madrid, remains to be seen.
