415 See Hatem Ben Arfa Released From Cage To Score For Reserves

A total of 415 fans were in attendance at Whitley Park to see Hatem Ben Arfa temporarily released from his cage to score a quality solo goal for Newcastle reserves/under 21s.

Reading provided the opposition and quickly found themselves two goals up.

However, the reserves provided some fine bank holiday entertainment as they produced a fine comeback with Adam Arnstrong the star of the show.

He supplied the first, third and fifth & final goal as United eventually ran out 5-2 winners.

Sammy Ameobi scored the second with Ben Arfa’s being the fourth.

It will be interesting to see if any of the fringe players such as Arnstrong and Ameobi will be involved tomorrow night at Gillingham, whether this was an alternative to being involved in the League Cup, or as a warm up for that second round match.

Obviously no chance of Hatem Ben Arfa being involved down in Kent and naturally he’ll have been straight back in his black & white cage after today’s outing.

However, with only a week to go it will be interesting to see if the club can force him out of the club in that time.

Then even more interesting, if Hatem’s still at St.James’ Park after the transfer window shuts, what will Pardew and Ashley do then?

Newcastle: Alnwick, Olley, Williams, Satka, Gillesphey, Barlaser, Bigirimana, Ben Arfa, Vuckic, Sammy Ameobi, Armstrong
