Not So Young Players Added To Newcastle Squad Travelling To Play Sheffield Wednesday
Alan Pardew announced yesterday that he was leaving an unknown number of senior players behind on Tyneside, with ‘younger lads’ getting their chance against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Newcastle manager told the official club website on Tuesday;
“Having just got back from New Zealand, some of the lads need a bit of a rest so tomorrow will be a chance for some of the younger lads in the squad.
“We will be looking for a result like the two we got on the tour and a good performance as well, hopefully some of the lads can perform well and give us something to think about.”
Since then there has been no further comment from the club and so it would have been fair to assume, with no clarification or squad announced by Newcastle, that it would be more or less a reserve team that would be representing United.
However, amongst others, the Chronicle’s Lee Ryder has stated that Cheick Tiote, Emmanuel Riviere, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Massadio Haidara, Ayoze Perez, Paul Dummett and Vurnon Anita were all onboard when the team coach left for South Yorkshire earlier today.
Fans can pay on the gate at tonight’s match at Hillsborough, kick-off is at 7.45pm.
