Young midfielder Kingsley Coman has said he chose Juventus ahead of Newcastle United, dreaming of following in the footsteps of French legends Zidane, Trezeguet and Platini.

There is also the small matter of Juventus now being the top club in Italy once again, winning Serie A the last three years in a row.

The 18 year old midfielder revealed he’d also fielded interest from both Spurs and Arsenal as well.

Coman has turned down a new contract at PSG and opted to move to Italy, as he explained to the Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport;

“Newcastle, Tottenham and Arsenal were interested in me too.

“However I’ve chosen Juventus because I love their history, this after all was the clib of Platini, Zidane and Trezeguet.”

The one thing Newcastle could have offered ahead of the other three clubs would likely have been faster progression to the first team, even though Alan Pardew showed a marked reluctance to give youth a chance last season.

The highly thought of Coman was actually given his first glimpse of first team football at the age of only sixteen by PSG.
