Remy Cabella Reveals Whether He’ll Be On Newcastle’s Plane To New Zealand
As you may have seen, Remy Cabella completed his move to Newcastle United on Sunday night.
With it being vital for new signings, especially from abroad, to integrate into a squad, it was always going to be interesting to see if the French playmaker would be on Newcastle’s plane to New Zealand on Friday.
Interviewed on the club website, the ex-Montpellier player has confirmed he won’t be joining the players on the plane to New Zealand and won’t meet up with until after they touch down back in Newcastle at the end of July, only giving himself a couple of weeks to work with the other players and the coaching team. With that in mind, plus a busy summer already behind Cabella, hopefully Newcastle fans will be patient if the player doesn’t hit the ground running.
Remy Cabella broke off from a holiday in Corsica (his birthplace) to complete his move to Newcastle and was asked whether he was heading back there;
“”Yes I am looking forward to continuing my holiday but I’ll be coming back at the end of the month to begin training which is something I’m really looking forward to, meeting everybody and preparing for next season.”
Remy Cabella asked whether ‘players such as Yohan Cabaye and Moussa Sissoko’ had played any part in his decision to join Newcastle’;
“It is thanks to them that I have arrived here. I have heard nothing but good news from the guys, they have helped me to understand what to expect.
“It is really good to have references that help you decide where you want to go.”
‘Newcastle has a tradition of exciting players such as David Ginola, Laurent Robert, Hatem Ben Arfa – do you hope to follow in their footsteps?’
“Yes, that is something I’m looking to do, I’m looking to improve all of the time and become one of the best.”
***It would be interesting to hear what references/feedback Remy Cabella got from Mathieu Debuchy, Hatem Ben Arfa, Sylvain Marveaux, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa….
