Pardew Says Mike Ashley Wants Champions League In ‘Educated Way’ Not Spending Fortunes
Speaking ahead of Newcastle’s match against Sydney FC, Alan Pardew has claimed that the squad is in as good a shape as at any previous year he’s been at St.James’ Park.
The Newcastle manager claiming that Mike Ashley is trying to get into the Champions League in an ‘educated way’ rather than spending fortunes on transfer.
“It’s important for us to grow our brand, we’re a club that wants to compete in the Champions League.
“We’re trying to do it in a way that’s very difficult because we’re not throwing vast fortunes at transfers. We can’t afford to do that, so we are trying to do it in a more educated way.
“Trying to bring in players that we think can make that step. This year we are as well set as at any time that I’ve been at the club, to make a go of it.
“We just need to get tactically our game plan ready for the season and that well start on this tour.”
