Newcastle Defender Offered On Loan To Clubs
Wednesday morning brings news that Paul Dummett’s name has been circulated to Championship clubs as Alan Pardew looks to send him out on loan in the coming season.
The Northern Echo report that the Newcastle manager now rates Massadio Haidara as the number two behind Davide Santon, though it is claimed that Pardew still retains faith in Dummett but wants him to get more games under his belt.
Many fans would like to see Haidara given a chance as first choice at left-back and there was talk, and a belief amongst fans, that with Debuchy departing it might see Santon moved across to the right. However, the newspaper reports that Newcastle are actively looking for a replacement right-back which then means that Paul Dummett would no longer be needed as potential cover if Haidara had been given the nod on the left.
While the squad continues to be trimmed with either permanent departures (Gosling, Tavernier, Shola, Remy etc) or potential loans (Dummett and others), Newcastle’s seriously small squad of last year is now looking positively threadbare and in need of urgent attention.
With just over a week before the squad depart to New Zealand, it remains to be seen whether any much needed new faces will be joining them down under.
