New Zealand Tour Promoters Insist Tim Krul Will Make The Trip
Last month, the people organising the four team tournament in New Zealand, publicised a provisional 26 man Newcastle squad that included headline acts Tim Krul, Mathieu Debuchy and Cheick Tiote.
When these details were released it was with the proviso that things could change depending on which countries progressed in the World Cup.
Despite Holland possibly progressing all the way to Sunday’s final, the promoters of the New Zealand tournament have insisted to the local press that man of the moment Tim Krul will be involved, despite the first match against Sydney taking place on 22nd July – only nine days after the final in Brazil.The second game being played four days afterwards on 26th July.
The original preliminary squad that was published;
Krul, Alnwick, Elliot, Dummett, Mapou, Santon, Tavernier, Haidara, Williamson, Steven Taylor, Debuchy, Coloccini, Colback, Ferguson, Sammy Ameobi, Bigirimana, Obertan, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Jonas, Gouffran, Anita, Tiote, Perez, Armstrong, Campbell
Moussa Sissoko’s name was missing when this original squad was published and with ongoing speculation about his future it remains to be seen whether his name is added to the squad, if he stays at Newcastle.
Tavernier has now joined Wigan and Debuchy’s impending move to Arsenal will rule him out.
The promoters, exiled Geordies and neutrals alike will hope that the likes of Tiote and Krul will join new star signing Siem De Jong on the trip. Plus fans back on Tyneside will also be hoping other new signings are imminent and can make the trip to integrate and bond with the squad.
