What Monaco Fans Are Saying About Emmanuel Riviere Newcastle Transfer

Emmanuel Riviere was reported to have flown into Newcastle on Tuesday night and has been spotted and photographed at United’s training ground today.

As the medical and the completion of the formalities are gone through, we thought we’d hop over the Channel again to find out what Monaco fans are saying about the impending transfer of Emmanuel Riviere to Tyneside.

As always, we are indebted to our top translator Pierre, who has scoured the media in France and brought us the following comments left by (mainly) Monaco fans on L’Equipe’s website’

“Rivière has nothing in his brain. To go to a club with lots of French players that I can understand, but to go a club just to keep it in the league, that I don’t get! To leave a big club who will play in the Champions league is so naïve! Apart from their fans,  I can’t see why this player would make this choice.”

“This is getting ridiculous and all those French players are hoping to end up in a bigger club, really? Ask Ben Arfa , Mapou and Marveaux.”

“Why can’t the French players prove themselves in France, become a regular international, and then Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester or others will come for you directly!”

“Rivière, Obbadi… Falcao, Rodriguez! Everyone wants to bugger off from the rock(Monaco)… LOL”

“Is there an English player in this Newcastle team?

“9 million for Rivière, a great offer…NOT!”

“I hope that we will still have eleven players at the end of the transfer…”

“He represents the future of the French team.”

“Transfer rumours are rife with: James (Rodriguez), Falcao, Obbadi, Rivière, Carrasco, etc…it might be easier to make a list of which player is staying!!”

“Why are Monaco selling its best players when they are about to play in the Champions League?”

“Rivière is far from being one of the best players, due to Falcao and berbatov he is not going to play a lot and will keep the bench warm.”
