What Monaco Fans Have Said About Newcastle’s Transfer Link With Emmanuel Riviere
Newcastle have been closely [intlink id=”44730″ type=”post”]linked with Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere[/intlink] in recent days, the possibility of the striker moving to England provoking much debate over the Channel.
The 24 year old Monaco forward has enjoyed his best ever season in front of goal with 13 goals in all competitions, but since the arrival of Dimitar Berbatov midway through the year, he found a place in the team hard to come by.
As a 21 year old, Riviere moved for £5m from St.Etienne to Toulouse and played alongside Moussa Sissoko.
However, after struggling for goals, the forward left in the same January (2013) transfer window as Sissoko’s move to Tyneside.
To find out exactly what Monaco fans are saying about the possibility of a Riviere move to Newcastle United, we asked our top translator Pierre (thanks as always) to have a look over in France and the following comments were posted originally on the L’Equipe website;
“A young hope when he played for ASSE (St.Etienne), he lost his head and it got too big thanks to his bank account! After a difficult year at TFC(Toulouse), he went to Monaco and scored 4 or 5 goals last year in the first few matches, the media was already mentioning him in the French team… he has burnt his career!!!”
“Better for him to go to Stoke than Newcastle!”
“If you have to go, go to LOSC (Lille).”
“He has the game to be a success in the PL; the physique, the speed and can hit the ball, I see him more at Stoke with Arnautovic, they could be good together.”
“I can’t see the reason to go to Newcastle when you are at Monaco !!!”
“Promising new talent that did not make it at a higher level.”
“I don’t get why French players are still linked to Newcastle, this club is a boil wash, when you leave you are weaker than you got there and the list is long!!”
“If Sissoko comes the other way, he can go …”
“Newcastle don’t seem to learn from their mistakes, LOL.”
