First Premier League Live TV Matches Leaked

Whilst the new [intlink id=”191″ type=”page”]Premier League schedule [/intlink]was allegedly released in June, as we all know it is only once Sky and BT have had their wicked way with the live TV fixtures, that we can start and plan the next year of our lives.

The Telegraph are reporting, that while the broadcasters are expected to officially announce their opening set of live games either later today or Tuesday at the latest, the newspaper has been informed of the opening fixtures.

The first weekend will see BT screen Manchester United v Swansea at the lunchtime 12.45 kick-off on Saturday 16 August.

The Telegraph reporting that this is because Sky’s strategy is to show last season’s top four on the opening weekend.

So as well as Newcastle United v Manchester City, over that first weekend there will also be the following screened live on Sky; Liverpool v Southampton, Burnley v Chelsea and Arsenal v Crystal Palace. However, the Telegraph hasn’t revealed which TV slots each of these will fill.

These opening fixtures are only the opening round of this season’s cat and mouse battle between the two broadcasters in their longer term struggle as to who will become the dominant force in the future.

As it stands at the minute, under the current deal Sky have X number of first choices, which meant last season they used this to prevent BT showing any head to head matches between the previous season’s top  four until December. An attempt seen by many pundits as a process of trying to strangle BT’s coverage at birth.
